Mechanical Technician

About the role
The focus of this position is the creation, modification, and testing of components and assemblies for Modine Thermal Management Systems (TMS). This includes working on new products, existing products, and testing laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Modify existing product (battery thermal management system) assemblies for testing and/or supply as prototype to external customers. This may include mechanical fabrication of prototype components.
- Modify or create wiring harness assemblies based on supplied schematic.
- Test setup, including configuration of computer/data acquisition system, fixture design and/or fabrication and instrumentation of test article.
- Setup and perform testing in accordance with test work order and/or engineer instruction.
- Record test data and generate test reports for external review.
- Record the progress of test article (receipt, start, complete and publish dates in addition to the results, test station and technician) in the LWO log.
- Verify instrument calibration via the Master Calibration Plan.
- Assist with measurement system calibration.
- Troubleshoot/maintain test equipment and record repairs or modifications.
- Train others as determined by Supervisor/Manager in the operation of test equipment and test methods.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in an Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Automotive or a related discipline, or 3+ years equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
- Good mechanical aptitude, proficiency with hand/power tools, and familiarity with reading technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Able to weld with GMAW and/or GTAW; ability to weld aluminum and stainless steel is highly preferred.
- Experience with machining and forming of metals.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word to perform calculations and generate test reports.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic operations. Experience with refrigerant and HVAC systems preferred.
- Must be able to obtain EPA section 608 and 609 refrigerant handling certification while in position.
- Prior experience with instrumentation, data acquisitions, principles of laboratory measurement preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Travel
This position requires an on-site presence with 10% travel for plants, vendor, and customer visits.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000. The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations but will be within the stated range.
