Mechanical Technician

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to assist with engine test cell retooling and facility setup activities. Tasks include plumbing, welding, machining, instrumentation, and electrical work. Training will be provided to meet specific needs. Travel is required for facility setup in various locations.

Responsibilities

• Plumbing for coolant, fuel, and water systems
• Welding of exhaust systems and fixtures
• Repairing engine test cell equipment
• Documenting equipment issues and repairs for troubleshooting
• Performing preventative maintenance and inspections on test hardware
• Absorbing test hardware during plant housekeeping
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area
• Reporting all maintenance issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Completing all work according to Element procedures, using required personal protective equipment (PPE), and in compliance with Element Health & Safety (H&S) procedures

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in automotive technology or mechanical technology
• Hands-on job experience, preferably in the automotive industry
• Previous experience in an engineering environment is advantageous
• Experience in a mechanical testing environment is advantageous
• An understanding of recognized Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 is beneficial
• Self-motivated technician capable of multitasking, organizing, and working under pressure in a busy commercial mechanical test laboratory
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A team player attitude
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Travel required
