Mechanical Technician
Position Summary
The Engineering Mechanical Technician provides hands-on mechanical and technical support to the Ultraflo engineering team. This role bridges manufacturing and engineering by supporting product development, machining, prototyping, and quality activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC equipment on an as-needed basis to support prototypes, test parts, and production needs (training provided as applicable).
- Perform welding and fabrication work to support fixtures, prototypes, and product modifications.
- Absorb machining, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical components and valves.
- Revise and maintain mechanical drawings and models.
- Support engineering change activities, including document updates and drawing revisions.
- Provide practical, shop-floor input to product designs to improve manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Assist with first article inspections (FAI) and dimensional verification using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
- Document inspection results and support engineering with corrective actions or design improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and production efficiency.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and design enhancements.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and validation of new or modified products.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technical skills and engineering tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate, associate degree, or coursework in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial technology.
- Experience or familiarity with machining, welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience operating CNC machines.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with first article inspections or quality processes in a manufacturing setting.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform hands-on mechanical tasks for extended periods.
