Mechanical Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs all facets of equipment testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Responds to callouts and works overtime as needed to support plant operations.
• Assists during the startup of the facility and learns the plant process.
• Adheres to and supports all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
• Assembles, repairs, and tests equipment such as turbines, pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, tanks, vessels, piping, valves, and structures.
• Maintains and repairs equipment and machinery according to blueprints, manuals, and established codes using hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and test and analysis equipment like micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, and dial indicators.
• Performs various weld repairs on equipment and structures, installs, repairs, and replaces piping including copper, steel, stainless, FRP, and PVC.
• Collects and analyzes vibration signatures on all rotating machinery.
• Corrects defects such as misalignment, imbalance, resonance, cavitation, and soft foot.
• Coordinates the plant lubrication program including oil analysis.
• Performs thermography studies and corrects deficiencies.
• Performs confined space Attendant or Entrant duties as required.
• Reports to Control Operator in the absence of the Maintenance Manager or as may be appropriate.
• Completes special tasks and projects assigned by the Control Operator, Maintenance Manager, or General Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree; minimum of two years related maintenance experience; or certification program or equivalent education and experience.
• Knowledge of PC software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing, and database.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as periodicals, regulations, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately.
• Ability to communicate orally, including the use of a radio and group presentations.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
