Job Title: Mechanical Superintendent Job Description The Mechanical Superintendent provides daily field oversight of all mechanical construction activities on a large industrial manufacturing project. This role acts as the mechanical representative for the engineering, procurement, and construction teams, ensuring that mechanical installations meet design intent, quality standards, safety requirements, and project objectives. The Mechanical Superintendent closely monitors process and utility piping, major equipment installations, and mechanical systems, while coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to drive safe, efficient, and compliant execution. Responsibilities Provide daily field oversight of all mechanical construction activities on a large industrial manufacturing project.Act as the mechanical representative for the engineering, procurement, and construction teams, ensuring alignment between design, procurement, and field execution.Review and interpret mechanical drawings, process piping drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, and construction work packages to guide field activities.Verify that field installations comply with design documents, project specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards.Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve mechanical construction issues in a timely manner.Monitor installation of process piping, utility piping, and mechanical equipment to ensure proper sequencing, quality, and adherence to project plans.Provide oversight of major equipment installations, including large tank sets and associated systems, to ensure safe and accurate placement and integration.Identify constructability concerns in the field and proactively drive solutions with the engineering and construction teams.Participate in inspections, turnover activities, punch-list development, and commissioning support to facilitate successful project completion.Track construction progress and provide updates regarding schedule, quality, and field execution challenges.Ensure all mechanical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project requirements. Essential Skills Construction management experience on large industrial construction projects.Mechanical construction expertise with strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems.Hands-on experience with process piping and equipment installation.Ability to review and interpret mechanical drawings, process piping drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, and construction work packages.Proven capability to verify field installations against design documents, project specifications, and quality and safety requirements.Strong coordination skills to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.Experience overseeing installation of process piping, utility piping, and mechanical equipment.Demonstrated ability to identify constructability issues and drive practical field solutions.Experience participating in inspections, turnover activities, punch-list development, and commissioning support.10+ years’ experience on large industrial construction projects with a value of approximately $50M or greater.Process piping or equipment installation experience, as a mandatory requirement. Additional Skills & Qualifications Industrial construction background with exposure to large manufacturing facilities.Strong field leadership skills with the ability to guide crews and subcontractors toward safe and efficient execution.Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical requirements and field conditions to engineering and project leadership.Organizational skills to track progress, document issues, and report on schedule and quality metrics.Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement corrective actions in the field. Work Environment This position is based on a large industrial manufacturing construction site and involves daily presence in the field overseeing mechanical activities. The work schedule currently follows a 6-day workweek with 10-hour shifts (6-10s) from Monday through Saturday, with an anticipated transition to a 5-day workweek with 10-hour shifts (5-10s) at the start of next year. The environment includes active construction areas, heavy equipment, process and utility piping installations, and major mechanical equipment such as large tank sets. The role requires consistent adherence to site safety practices, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and regular interaction with multidisciplinary construction and engineering teams in a dynamic, schedule-driven setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
