About the role
Mechanical design of Hybrid/Electric Onboard Charger and DC/DC Converter systems.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components in compliance with BorgWarner Lessons Learned and Best Practices.
- Design product and components to meet customer specifications.
- Design connectors and bus bars for power electronics including PCB interconnects.
- Design liquid cooling heat sink for power electronics.
- Perform mechanical analysis and verification for vibration, thermal shock, IPK ratings, thermal performance, GD&T tolerance stack up, and DFMEA.
- Work with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturing (DFM).
- Work with electrical engineering team to define and package PCBs, transformers, and other components.
- Work with CAE engineer to draft and update 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Work with component suppliers to ensure components meet design requirements.
- Document design as needed and required.
- Develop and interface with supply base in support of program needs and purchasing initiatives.
- Follow a structured problem-solving approach to resolve issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
- 60 months of experience in mechanical hardware design.
- Experience with automotive environmental and durability requirements.
- Experience with mechanical design/analysis for automotive-based power electronics.
- Experience using CAD applications, including NX.
- Experience with analysis tools.
- Knowledge of thermal management for power electronics.
Schedule
40 hours per week.
