Schedule

2nd Shift: 4:30 pm–1:00 am (Monday–Friday)
Overtime, as needed

Pay

The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $44,530–$55,660 plus a 10% shift premium. Individual pay within this range is determined by performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of mechanical subassemblies, final assemblies, and other mechanical fixtures to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
• Verify that mechanical components are assembled correctly and that tolerances meet established criteria.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation to ensure compliance with design and production standards.
• Record and document inspection results, identifying non-conforming products and initiating corrective action as required.
• Utilize, maintain, and calibrate mechanical testing equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.
• Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and suggest improvements to processes.
• Assist in developing and improving testing procedures and protocols based on findings and feedback.
• Understand and follow ISO 9001 standards and ensure compliance in daily work.
• Maintain detailed inspection logs and reports for review by supervisors.
• Assist in maintaining the safety of the work area by following relevant safety guidelines for handling mechanical components and equipment.
• Continuously develop skills related to mechanical testing and inspection techniques, with a focus on pursuing relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ, ASME).
• Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
• Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience, such as assembly.
• Sound understanding of mechanical systems. Able to complete troubleshooting tasks to identify issues within these systems.
• Ability to understand part drawings, Bills of Material, Sales Orders, & Technical Documents.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment on a product floor and open to learning new concepts of mechanical/product testing.
• Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
• Sound attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and identify correct vs. incorrect product functions.
• Rounded communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
• Good computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests and use Microsoft/ERP applications.
• Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Good shop math skills with the ability to calculate measurements.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
• Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in a trade or related mechanical/electrical field.
• ASQ Certification.
• Experience working in an inspection role in a manufacturing organization.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting: Occasionally required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.
• Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment.
• Ascending/Descending: Occasionally ascending or descending ladders/stairs/scaffolding/ramps/poles.
• Observation/Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
• Communication: Frequently required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.

Environmental & Hazardous Conditions

• Frequently working indoors in an air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned office/manufacturing/site-based environment (both office and manufacturing).
• Infrequently exposed to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/lasers.
• Occasionally exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic.
• Infrequently working around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns.
• Infrequently exposed to wet/humid/outdoor weather/extreme cold (non-weather)/extreme heat (non-weather) conditions.
• Occasionally working with machinery with moving parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects.
