General Description
Candidate will perform in-process, receiving, and final inspection of aerospace hardware utilizing basic inspection equipment and customer provided drawings and/or specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and standards to determine product status.
- Use standard measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
- Operate a coordinate measuring machining (CMM).
- Select the correct tool needed to do the job, regularly make decisions on tooling requirement for specific tasks.
- Assist and train Mechanical Inspector I.
- Complete non-conformance reports as required.
- Complete AS9102 FAI reports.
- Has good communication skills and communicates effectively with coworkers.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Trade school is desirable.
- 4 to 7 years mechanical inspection, mechanical assembly, and/or metal machining experience required.
- The candidate will have good dexterity and possess the ability to inspect complex mechanical assemblies. Read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to determine proper assembly sequences and has the ability to identify and suggest process improvements.
- Self-starter, little or no immediate supervision required. Regularly makes suggestions that improve production velocity and quality.
- Must be able to read complex drawings and interpret per ANSI/ASME Y 14.5
- Zeiss Calypso or Polyworks software a plus.
- Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office. Costpoint experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time.
- On occasion must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Works in a manufacturing environment.
