About the role

The Mechanical Project Manager leads mechanical engineering projects to ensure designs, schedules, and deliverables align with business objectives. The role is responsible for coordinating engineering activities, managing project execution, and ensuring compliance with technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive mechanical project execution aligning scope, schedule, budget, and technical requirements with objectives.
  • Oversee project plans, schedules, and resources ensuring milestones are achieved within defined constraints.
  • Evaluate project performance and determine actions improving schedule adherence, cost control, and outcomes.
  • Execute project plans ensuring alignment with engineering standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, and implement controls ensuring financial performance and accountability.
  • Engineer coordination & technical delivery:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams aligning designs, specifications, and technical requirements across project phases.
    • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
    • Cook up with contractors, vendors, and field teams supporting project execution and delivery requirements.
    • Audit technical outputs ensuring alignment with engineering standards, codes, and project specifications.
    • Support technical decision-making by providing guidance across mechanical engineering and project activities.
  • Project performance, risk & stakeholder management:
    • Oversee compliance with project, regulatory, and contractual requirements across mechanical engineering activities.
    • Identify project risks and determine mitigation strategies preventing delays, cost impacts, and performance issues.
    • Monitor project performance and escalate risks impacting delivery timelines or customer commitments.
    • Lead stakeholder communication ensuring alignment on project status, expectations, and performance outcomes.
    • Drive project discipline through reporting, coordination, and continuous improvement across project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in mechanical engineering or project management roles.
  • Experience managing engineering projects including scope, schedule, budget, and technical deliverables.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, engineering principles, and project execution methodologies.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for project execution.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and field teams supporting project delivery requirements.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, track costs, and implement controls ensuring financial performance.
  • Experience using project management tools, scheduling software, and engineering systems supporting execution.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and regulatory requirements impacting project delivery.
  • Ability to analyze project data and implement improvements enhancing efficiency and delivery performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Ability to make decisions balancing technical requirements, timelines, and business objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills supporting structured project execution and documentation accuracy.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to resolve engineering and project-related challenges effectively.

Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, OSHA, Professional Engineer, or Lean Six Sigma preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to travel to manufacturing sites, supplier locations, or operational facilities as required.
  • Ability to walk manufacturing and warehouse environments safely and regularly.
  • Ability to alternate between office and operational environments throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform light physical activity including standing, walking, and occasional lifting.

Benefits

Pay range: $90,000 to $120,000 USD. This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus.
