Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for HVAC system concept selection, subject to approval of the Mechanical Department Manager and Project Manager.
  • Responsible for the quality of work produced by subordinate personnel.
  • Calculation of heating and cooling loads, duct static pressure and pump head calculations.
  • Ductwork and piping system selection and sizing.
  • HVAC Equipment selection and sizing.
  • Miscellaneous engineering calculations as required by project scope.
  • Generation of schematic diagrams and flow diagrams.
  • Specification writing, subject to review by the Mechanical Department Manager.
  • Writing reports and feasibility studies.
  • Attendance at design development and construction meetings.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of the design.
  • Interfacing with clients, vendors and other disciplines.
  • Review of shop drawings, including responsibility for final disposition.
  • Conduct surveys.
  • General knowledge of applicable codes.
  • General knowledge of Energy Modeling.
  • Troubleshoot and execute assignments for multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Effectively and collaboratively work across multiple departments and stakeholders to help gather requirements, plan and execute project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress.
  • Participate in onsite client visits including and not limited to project scope walks, meetings, testing, commissioning, startup support, and trouble shooting.
  • Aid in client proposals and Proposal development.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE license) preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes
  • LEED certification is a plus
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to take direction and act independently
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized
  • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision and on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • Experience in the management and execution of multiple projects in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Excellent technical, presentation and client interface skills
  • Up to date with advancements in mechanical engineering technology and techniques
  • Seek opportunities to innovate and improve existing designs and processes

Education Requirement(s)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university.
