On-siteEngineeringFull-time

Join Daphne Technology in solving the methane slip problem. Daphne develops products to measure and reduce methane slip and other harmful emissions in exhaust from gas-powered engines on land and at sea. Our solutions enable operators to meet emissions regulations, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to achieving climate goals. We are a Swiss-headquartered climate tech company with global operations and a strong focus on research and development.

About the role

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the mechanical scope of US customer projects, from concept clarification through 3D mechanical layout, 2D drawing packages, DFM review, supplier follow-up, fabrication readiness, assembly support, and commissioning support. The successful candidate must be able to translate customer, site, and project requirements into practical mechanical solutions. This includes preparing 3D concepts for sales discussions, customer reviews, and simulation preparation, as well as 2D drawings and technical documentation suitable for supplier quotation, DFM review, fabrication, assembly, and inspection.

The role combines mechanical design, project execution support, supplier coordination, and close collaboration with technical team members in the US and Switzerland.

Primary location: Houston, Texas. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Concepts and 3D Design
    • Create 3D concepts and layouts for sales proposals, customer discussions, internal design reviews, technical trade-offs, and simulation preparation.
    • Develop mechanical solutions for industrial equipment, housings, skids, supports, reactors, piping interfaces, access points, and serviceable assemblies.
  • 2D Drawings, DFM, and Fabrication Support
    • Produce and review 2D drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for supplier quotation, DFM review, and manufacturing release.
    • Work with suppliers and fabrication partners to clarify manufacturing constraints, tolerances, material choices, surface treatment, weldments, sheet metal, machined parts, and assembly methods.
  • Project Execution and Cross-discipline Coordination
    • Work with the Lead Project Engineer, US and Swiss technical teams, and suppliers to deliver mechanical activities according to project priorities and deadlines.
    • Clarify mechanical interfaces with reactors, catalyst modules, cabinets, piping, sensors, cooling, supports, and customer site connections.
    • Provide practical options and recommendations while clearly identifying assumptions, risks, and open items.
  • Supplier, Assembly, and Field Support
    • Support supplier selection, quotation review, technical clarification, drawing review, and fabrication follow-up.
    • Support local assembly, troubleshooting, commissioning preparation, and field installation activities when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical design or project engineering experience in oil & gas, midstream, industrial gas, exhaust treatment, skid-mounted equipment, process skids, or similar industrial environments.
  • Strong CAD capability for both 3D concept development and 2D manufacturing drawings. SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Experience preparing drawing packages and BOMs for DFM review, supplier quotation, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturability, tolerances, weldments, sheet metal, machined components, assembly constraints, and maintenance access.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ISO, or relevant industrial / oil & gas standards.
  • Clear written and oral communication in English and ability to work with international teams.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience with gas treatment, exhaust treatment, compressor station equipment, industrial process equipment, skid-mounted, or modular industrial systems.
  • Experience supporting sales, customer, or project stakeholder discussions with 3D concepts, layouts, or visual design proposals.
  • Hands-on experience with assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, field support, or supplier inspection.
  • Strong ownership, responsiveness, and ability to close tasks in a fast-paced project environment.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge, GHG-reducing technologies.
  • Potential to assume additional responsibilities early as Daphne transitions from a mature start-up to a commercial company.
  • Work with an international, diverse, and multi-disciplinary team of industry-leading experts.
