Mechanical Project Engineer | Independence, OH

About the role

IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for its Independence, OH office. This position involves leading design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, interacting with clients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software
• Communicate technical information to clients and build client relationships
• Work as part of a project team to support project execution
• Plan, budget, and schedule project tasks to meet deadlines and objectives
• Document design decisions and monitor project progress
• Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions
• Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical solutions
• Provide in-process design reviews and implement quality control processes
• Stay updated with industry trends and contribute to research and development
• Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify potential risks
• Oversee projects during the bidding and construction administration phases

Requirements

• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
• Strong technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in HVAC load calculation software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficiency in BIM software and MS Office Suite
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in the building design consulting industry, 6+ preferred

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
