About the role
IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for its Independence, OH office. This position involves leading design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, interacting with clients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software
- Communicate technical information to clients and build client relationships
- Work as part of a project team to support project execution
- Plan, budget, and schedule project tasks to meet deadlines and objectives
- Document design decisions and monitor project progress
- Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions
- Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical solutions
- Provide in-process design reviews and implement quality control processes
- Stay updated with industry trends and contribute to research and development
- Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify potential risks
- Oversee projects during the bidding and construction administration phases
Requirements
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
- Strong technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in HVAC load calculation software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficiency in BIM software and MS Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in the building design consulting industry, 6+ preferred
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
