What You'll Do
- Lead the design and documentation of HVAC and plumbing systems that meet client goals, project requirements, and applicable codes.
- Perform and oversee engineering calculations, equipment selection, and technical analyses that support thoughtful building system design.
- Cook up and coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, civil, and other project team members to develop integrated design solutions.
- Guide project scope, schedules, and discipline-specific budgets while helping projects stay on track.
- Provide construction support through submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, and problem-solving during construction.
- Mentor EITs, junior engineers, and drafters by sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting their professional growth.
- Contribute to quality by participating in QA/QC reviews and continuously improving design standards and project delivery.

Qualifications
- Mechanical Project Engineer I: Typically 3–4 years of experience as a Project Engineer following Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, leading mid-sized projects or supporting larger, more complex projects.
- Mechanical Project Engineer II: Typically 7–10 years of experience as a Project Engineer following Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, including responsibility for leading large or complex projects.
- Five (5) or more years of overall mechanical engineering experience, including experience directing or mentoring support staff.
- Current registration as a Mechanical Professional Engineer in California, or the ability to obtain California registration within six months of employment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, or other building projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit/BIM strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Title 24, ASHRAE, the California Mechanical Code, and other applicable building codes and standards.
- Strong communication, organization, and project coordination skills.
