Mechanical Project Engineer

About the role

Epstein is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineering professional with 6–10 years of experience and strong project leadership skills who enjoys managing complex projects, mentoring design teams, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. The role contributes to impactful, high-quality work within a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP) where employees are invested in the firm’s success. Epstein is an established and highly respected Construction, Architecture, and Engineering firm with over 100 years of experience, headquartered in Chicago and with offices in New York, Raleigh, and Warsaw, Poland.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and integrate engineering activities throughout the life of a project to ensure successful delivery
  • Oversee the development of engineering designs and coordinate changes to project documents and specifications
  • Support client engagement and coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions
  • Design HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, education, hospitality, government, residential, retail, and industrial facilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred
  • 6–10 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm
  • MEP project management experience
  • Experience designing commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including HVAC load calculations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering design teams and coordinate project deliverables
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination throughout the design process
  • Thorough knowledge of the International Mechanical Code, Chicago Mechanical Code, and ASHRAE design standards
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • LEED Accreditation preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Revit and discipline-specific software such as Trane/TRACE and Trace 3D

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000 annually. Individual compensation is determined by several factors, including education, experience, training, qualifications, skill sets, licensure/certifications, and location. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on both company and individual performance.

Schedule

Hybrid work schedule with half-day Fridays and flexible working hours.
