About the role

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities and the development of project deliverables to ensure project success. This role supports proposal development and oversees the engineering design process, including coordination of design and specification changes. The Project Engineer designs HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, education, hospitality, government, residential, retail, and industrial facilities, with strong industrial project experience as a plus. The role involves collaborating with other disciplines to achieve a coordinated design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities for assigned projects.
• Support the development of proposals and oversee the engineering design process.
• Design HVAC systems for a variety of facility types, including commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
• Perform HVAC load calculations and ensure compliance with design standards.
• Coordinate design changes and specifications with other disciplines.
• Take a responsible lead in the design and detailing of engineering systems.
• Ensure designs comply with the International Code, Chicago Mechanical Code, and ASHRAE Design Guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to achieve coordinated design solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–12 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm.
• MEP Project Management experience.
• Proficiency in the concept of typical commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Experience performing HVAC load calculations.
• Strong knowledge of the International Code, Chicago Mechanical Code, and ASHRAE Design Guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, REVIT, and discipline-specific software such as Trane/Trace and Carrier HAP.
• LEED Accreditation preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000 annually. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on company and individual performance.
