This position is part of the ICE Powertrain Engineering team, responsible for the development, design, and integration of powertrain systems into industry-leading heavy-duty specialty vehicles. The team covers engines, transmissions, air intake, cooling systems, and exhaust/aftertreatment for on-highway vehicle chassis models produced by Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation for truck, bus, RV, and motor coach applications.

Responsibilities

  • Use computer-aided engineering (CAE) to solve complex vehicle design problems using finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body simulation (MBS), and fatigue analysis.
  • Design and develop mechanical products, components, or systems by applying mechanical engineering principles.
  • Design product-specific manufacturing production processes and equipment.
  • Collaborate with marketing and industrial design teams to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements.
  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering OR an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of related experience OR 6+ years of design engineering experience.
  • Full understanding of theories, practices, and procedures related to the job field.
  • Experience and understanding of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle systems.
  • Ability to work within standard practices and procedures to analyze information and problems of limited scope.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, strong written and verbal communication skills, including cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and downstream impacts.
  • Experience with 3D CAD design required (Siemens NX preferred).
  • An attached resume is required.

Pay

Starting salary range of $86,000 – $110,000 USD, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Schedule

This is an onsite position located in Gaffney, SC, US. Relocation assistance is not available.
