Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical and piping engineering activities to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, regulatory, and client-specific engineering standards.
- Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
- Define engineering deliverables and time-based activities to support planning, budgeting, and cost control.
- Conduct and support site visits to gather technical data and support project execution.
- Lead equipment identification, selection, sizing, layout, specification development, and vendor technical evaluations.
- Oversee piping system design activities, including:
- Hydraulic analysis
- P&ID development
- Material specifications
- Stress analysis
- Piping layout
- Develop and maintain project work plans, scope documentation, and execution strategies throughout design evolution.
- Manage and review engineering work packages to ensure adherence to budget and schedule, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Review, approve, and sign off on technical deliverables.
- Support the development of project-specific procedures and engineering documentation.
- Cookordinate mechanical and piping activities with other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and represent the Mechanical/Piping discipline.
- Ensure quality audits are completed in accordance with project procedures and quality assurance plans.
- Participate in HAZOP reviews and other safety and risk assessments.
- Resolve engineering issues across all project phases, including planning, design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
- Promote ethical, professional, and safe engineering practices in alignment with Hatch’s corporate safety culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate technical teams to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Solid understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies and project execution.
- Working knowledge of procurement, contracting, and commissioning practices.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Prior site-based technical experience preferred.
