Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Position Specifics

• Location: Charter Steel: 1658 Cold Springs Rd. Saukville, WI 53080
• Shift: 5-2-2-5 rotating night shift schedule
• Shift Duration: 12 hours, starting at 4:30 PM and ending at 4:30 AM
• Work-Life Balance: Consistent, predictable rotation with built-in time off without using PTO

What you'll do

• Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain a wide range of mechanical systems
• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) and equipment calibrations
• Work hands-on with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and power transmission systems
• Safely operate and maintain industrial tools and mobile equipment including cranes and forklifts
• Partner with Electrical Maintenance Technicians for cross-functional maintenance tasks
• Prioritize safety by strictly adhering to protocols such as lockout/tagout, fall protection, and confined space entry procedures

What you will bring

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience
• Machining and welding skills
• Hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and plumbing knowledge
• Power transmission systems expertise, including bearings, gearing, conveyors, fans, shaft alignment, sprockets, and coupling
• Journeyman Certification or formal apprenticeship completion
• Experience with overhead crane troubleshooting and repair
• Proficiency in rigging and lifting procedures
• Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
• A true team player with strong problem-solving abilities

Nice to haves

• Hands-on experience with SMAW, MIG, and/or TIG welding
• Previous work experience in the steel or heavy manufacturing industry
• Fabrication skills and a basic understanding of electrical systems
• Up-to-date safety certifications and a strong awareness of industry-standard safety practices

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Regular standing, walking, lifting (up to 100lbs), and use of hand tools
• Exposure to heat, cold, grease, and working at elevated heights

Pay

Competitive base pay + night shift premium of an extra $2.25/hr

$5,000 SIGN ON BONUS paid out after 90 days
