Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance position is specifically designed for Transitioning Service Members, particularly those participating in the DOD SkillBridge Program. Amentum is an industry partner of the Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge Program and seeks a Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity to join their Industrial Facility Maintenance team in Lafayette, IN.

Responsibilities

• Assists higher level technicians in responding to work orders and providing service and feedback to customers on all work orders.
• Trains and troubleshoots mechanical systems and equipment such as pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, air handlers, and other equipment as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
• Conducts preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
• Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
• Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently serving in the military transitioning to the civilian sector within the next year.
• A minimum of three years maintenance experience.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• At least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic repair theory.
• Knowledge of basic electrical theory.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical theory.
• Experience using hand tools.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.

Benefits

This position may require a valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a security access badge at the client's location. It may also require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements

• Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs during shift.
• Requires the ability and flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, move in a 90-degree fashion, stretch/reach repetitively throughout shift.
• Requires the ability to walk throughout the plant during shift.
• Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
• Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
• Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
• Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
