Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity

About the Role
Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity to join our Industrial Facility Maintenance team in Greenville, SC. This position requires an understanding of mechanical maintenance concepts, a great attitude, and the willingness to learn technical skills in an industrial/manufacturing environment. The role involves assisting higher-level technicians with work orders, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on facility mechanical equipment, fixtures, and systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist the team with maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and equipment such as pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, air handlers, and other equipment as required.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required actions such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes.
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Understand and enforce company policies and safety regulations, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper use of PPE.
- Operate a variety of equipment, including hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware.
- Demonstrate flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling to meet customer needs.
- Perform a variety of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and trouble calls.
- Assist senior facility maintenance mechanics with work orders and provide service and feedback to customers on hot and cold calls.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- Currently serving in the military and transitioning to the civilian sector within the next year.
- Minimum of three years of maintenance experience.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Must be at least 18 years or older.
- Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if offered a position.
- May require a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
- Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs during shift.
- Ability and flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, move in a 90-degree fashion, and stretch/reach repetitively throughout shift.
- Ability to walk throughout the plant during shift.
- Use of a Company/Client-approved utility knife.
- Repetitive wrist movement for some tasks.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients despite periods of stress.
- Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic repair theory.
- Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical theory.
- Experience using hand tools.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.
