Mechanical Integrity Engineer- Entry Level

About the role
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). We are currently seeking a Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems Engineering team in Valley Green, PA.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in supporting the development of new products through testing and analysis of data and designs.
- Develop new products and processes via mechanical testing and qualification of electrical connectors and components.
- Develop test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of electrical connectors that factor in customer use and application requirements.
- Process and analyze testing results, and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
- Support the product design effort in mechanical analysis such as tolerance analysis, FEA, materials analysis, failure analysis, and creating test plans.
- Prepare test samples and test requests, design and fabricate test fixtures, and interface with test lab technicians.
- Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers.
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Mechanical/Materials Science Engineering.
- Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or Solidworks.
- Experience with data analysis software (MS Excel, Minitab) would be a plus.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable; ANSYS experience would be a plus.
- Understand how to replicate international standards for testing.
- Understanding of electrical systems and electrical connectors.
- Ability to perform failure analysis, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA.
- Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Desire to create and design new products and processes.
- Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus.
