About the role
PCI is seeking an experienced Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its PCI Indianapolis, IN 551 operations based in Carmel, IN.
Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive estimates for bidding prospective mechanical insulation work.
- Perform quantity takeoffs on construction projects.
- Maintain labor productivities for estimates.
- Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
- Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-perform group.
- Understand market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages.
- Be involved in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
- Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
- Administer contracts for secured projects.
- Prepare wage and benefit schedules.
- Aid in the hand-off of secured projects to the Operations Team.
- Assist with other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience estimating construction projects.
- Experience estimating the mechanical insulation scope of construction subcontracts.
- Strong ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work.
- A strong record of establishing and maintaining successful customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal communication and strong customer service skills with an ability to foster professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A high level of attention to detail and cost analysis competency.
- Proficiency with digital construction takeoff and estimating software, such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid.
- Prioritize and proactively identify opportunities, think creatively to develop solutions, and drive results in a competitive environment.
Preferred Requirements
- Multiple years’ experience estimating mechanical insulation on non-residential construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Construction Management.
- Local to the Seattle area preference.
