Mechanical Insulation Estimator

About the Role

PCI is seeking an experienced Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its Kansas City operations based in Lenexa, KS. This individual will create comprehensive estimates for bidding prospective mechanical insulation work. This position is safety sensitive and is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs on construction projects
• Establish labor productivities for estimate
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-perform group
• Understand market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level of risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages
• Participate in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team
• Create and maintain positive customer relations to support customer alignment objectives of the branch
• Handle contract administration for secured projects
• Prepare wage and benefit schedules
• Assist in the hand-off of secured projects to the Operations Team
• Assist in other duties as assigned, such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of professional experience estimating construction projects
• Experience estimating the mechanical insulation scope of construction subcontracts
• Strong ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work
• Proven record of establishing and maintaining successful customer relationships
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
• High level of attention to detail and cost analysis competency
• Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work
• Proficiency with digital construction takeoff and estimating software, such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
• Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities, think creatively to develop solutions, and drive results in a competitive environment
• Ability to effectively collaborate within a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple years' experience estimating mechanical insulation on non-residential construction projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Construction Management
• OSHA certifications
• Local to the Kansas City area

Pay

$75,100-$101,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program
