Mechanical Inspector and Plans Examiner

Duties, Responsibilities, And Qualifications

• Counsels customers on the interpretation and application of regulations as applied to construction projects.
• Reviews building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings, and other project documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations.
• Prepares and issues notices of correction for non-compliance found during reviews.
• Evaluates and resolves unique problems or situations that arise during the plan review process.
• Communicates with design professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders to address technical code issues.
• Maintains and prepares all required records and reports related to the review and inspection process.
• Inspects buildings and facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations as directed by the supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Education/Experience

• State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building;
• State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building;
• ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building;
• Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other relevant regulations.
• Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and ongoing construction for conformance with code requirements.
• Certified or certifiable as a Building Plans Examiner by the Miami Dade and/or Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA).
