About the role

Responsible for performing inspections on in-house machined and/or purchased precision components, units, materials, equipment, and all levels of assembly and quality control programs to specifications. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, BOMs, and specifications that result in acceptance or rejection of the inspection. Reviews documentation and performs sampling and testing of incoming components, internally manufactured components, raw materials, and build of assemblies. Reviews and reports performance data. Ensures raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company and test standards. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of components to ensure compliance to drawings, customer specifications, and workmanship standards.
  • Use precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other required gages applicable to measurements.
  • Familiarity with mechanical measuring equipment such as Optical Gaging Product (OGP) and/or X-ray fluorescence (XRF) testing used to determine the elemental composition of materials.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different materials used in manufacturing (aluminum, brass, copper, etc.).
  • Knowledge and understanding of tolerances and basic GD&T of blueprint drawings.
  • Visual inspection for workmanship and print compliance with the aid of a microscope if applicable.
  • Maintain inspection logs and records.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as Mil Specs, IPC-A-610, and MIL-STD-883.
  • Additional tasks assigned by your supervisor/manager.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience or a 2-year post-secondary/Associate degree with 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
  • Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution.
  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has some impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
  • Work is somewhat limited in scope, typically on smaller, less structured task-related activities.
