Mechanical Estimator Location: Alpharetta, Georgia Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 (Based on Experience) Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our construction estimating team. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and bid proposals for mechanical projects including HVAC, plumbing and piping systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, proficiency with takeoff and estimating software, and the ability to analyze drawings and specifications to produce complete cost estimates and pricing strategies that meet project objectives and company margins. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare comprehensive quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing and piping systems from drawings, specifications and subcontractor pricing.Develop competitive bid proposals and pricing based on accurate material, labor and equipment cost analysis.Review project documents, scopes of work, and subcontractor quotes to identify risks, omissions and value engineering opportunities.Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, labor productivity rates and historical cost records.Coordinate with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies and incorporate design changes into estimates.Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed to verify conditions and gather information for estimating.Prepare bid summaries, scope breakdowns and formal estimate reports for management and clients.Ensure estimates meet schedule and contractual requirements and align with company pricing strategies and profit targets.Qualifications3+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction, with proven experience in HVAC and plumbing piping estimating.Proficient in quantity takeoffs and estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Trimble, On-Screen Takeoff) and strong Excel skills for pricing models and analysis.Demonstrated experience preparing bid proposals, cost estimates, pricing strategies and subcontractor bid packages.Strong understanding of mechanical systems, material costs, labor productivity rates, equipment rental rates and local code requirements.Excellent reading and interpretation skills for mechanical drawings, specifications and schedules (Revit/AutoCAD familiarity a plus).
