Mechanical Estimator
CCI Mechanical, LLC is expanding its workforce and seeking a Construction Estimator to join our Mechanical team. As a crucial member of our team, you will provide detailed and accurate estimates for mechanical projects. About the role
This position oversees and executes the estimating process for project bids, following established standard procedures, methods, processes, and software requirements. The role reports to our office in Holt, FL, and involves travel to project sites that may require overnight stays.
Responsibilities
- Experience in mechanical HVAC and mechanical plumbing projects.
- Develop pricing models per RFP requirements.
- Develop general and special conditions costs.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to create detailed cost estimates.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to determine the scope of work.
- Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Evaluate and select suitable materials and equipment for projects.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals for mechanical projects.
- Communicate with suppliers and contractors to obtain pricing information.
- Review constructability issues with key operational staff.
- Assist with review of subcontractor proposals to ensure scope coverage and identify scope gaps.
- Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends.
- Ensure pricing model data accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with other team members.
- Ensure effective transfer of awarded projects to field operation staff.
- Effectively communicate price proposal development process to senior management.
- Create and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Professionally communicate in highly stressed environments.
- Provide support during project implementation to ensure estimated costs are adhered to.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical estimating.
- Experience in various market sectors, including federal government, commercial, and medical.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or a related field is desired; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently on projects from $50K to $10M.
- Strong understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to work closely in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Experience with design-build and design-bid-build RFPs.
- Ability to develop competitive price proposals on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with ProEst or similar estimating software is desirable.
- Willingness and ability to walk project sites to gather information for estimates.
- Unrestricted driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel to project sites that may require overnight stays.

Working Conditions
This position is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings involve walking, driving, and carrying supplies in all seasons, with exposure to heat, cold, and potentially wildlife. The role may occasionally involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients.
- Maintain physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, ladders, or staging, or standing for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Frequent opportunity to move about and work outside the office environment for extended periods, involving exposure to the elements (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.) and walking over rough and uneven surfaces.
- Must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
Additional Notes
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to access military installations.
