About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. This onsite position involves estimating the costs of mechanical installations for various commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints and specifications to determine the mechanical requirements of projects.
- Estimate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for mechanical installations.
- Prepare and submit detailed and accurate project bids.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
- Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market prices for materials and labor.
- Evaluate potential profitability of projects and provide recommendations to management.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures and solutions to increase project profitability.
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant mechanical codes and standards.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information.
- Monitor and report on project progress and cost performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the commercial construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
- Proficient in using estimation software and tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification through the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International is advantageous.
