Mechanical Engineering Technician - OCU - Technical - 3x12 AM Shift
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician - OCU - Technical - 3x12 AM Shift to join our Engineering team at Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will drive product quality, performance, and reliability through engine, component, system, and controls testing, supporting the development of high-performing products.
Responsibilities
- Execute engine, component, system, and controls testing to validate designs and support product development.
- Generate data-driven insights by configuring data acquisition systems, analyzing test results, and developing analysis tools.
- Design test plans, configure test programs, conduct testing, document results, and deliver clear conclusions and recommendations.
- Diagnose and resolve technical challenges related to engines, components, systems, controls, and test cells.
- Build, instrument, inspect, measure, modify, and validate engines and components throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, maintain quality procedures, and participate in audits to enhance testing effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, customers, technicians, and apprentices to align priorities and solve problems.
- Ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality test operations by adhering to safety standards and maintaining accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Prioritize safety by championing proactive health and safety practices and identifying risks early.
- Execute testing with precision, ensuring proper test setup, equipment calibration, and data acquisition processes.
- Leverage problem-solving and decision-making skills to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze and communicate data effectively through clear and accurate reports.
- Manage complex technical challenges by interpreting test requirements and troubleshooting equipment and systems.

Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with Department of Labor Certification.
- OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience.
- OR Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Department of Labor Certification OR four years of experience/education through a Bachelor's degree in a related field OR an associate's degree with at least two years of relevant experience.

Experience: Department of Labor Certification OR four years of experience/education through a Bachelor's degree in a related field OR an associate's degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in daily 5S efforts.
- Maintain a clean, neat, orderly, and productive workspace.
- Maintain daily test cell and work order logbooks.
- Consistently run daily Test Readiness Verification (TRV).
- Consistently update Multi-State Utilization (MSU) Board.
- Review/approve timecards.
- Maintain good relations and communication with customers and cross-functional departments.
- Maintain engines on test.
- Complete all mandatory training by required deadlines.
