About the role

Entry-level mechanical engineering position supporting the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You’ll gain hands-on design, analysis, and project-execution experience with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals, client expectations, and high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection systems using engineering software and tools to produce detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in line with code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team; assist with project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor project design progress.
  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers to develop practical, efficient solutions.
  • Participate in IMEG quality-control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts.
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—engineers, architects, and project managers—to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Support project work within monetary budgets while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or equivalent certification.

Skills

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including principles of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as they relate to HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection systems.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard engineering software and tools, including HVAC load-calculation software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills; eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Basic knowledge of BIM software.
  • Clear oral and written communication for individuals or groups.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in the building-design consulting industry.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
