Lutron Electronics Co., Inc has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Leader in Boston, MA. In this role, you will lead engineers developing innovative, high-quality products that maintain and expand our market position as the world leader in automated lighting and shades. You will join a dynamic team, mentoring engineers while contributing to all phases of the product life cycle—from concept and prototyping to production support. Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering of efficient, scalable, and high-quality systems for world-class products.
- Integrate design aspects: aesthetics, function, user interface, manufacturability, and lifecycle.
- Uphold high standards of quality through design practices, process improvements, safety, and testing.
- Supervise, mentor, and coach engineers, providing performance feedback and hands-on support.
- Champion clear, concise communication of technical information backed by deep fundamental understanding.
- Identify cost reduction and product improvement opportunities.
- Utilize 3D modeling, FEA, tolerance analysis, DFM, and FMEA to meet project goals.
- Rapidly iterate through the design process to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing teams and other locations to introduce new products.
- Improve tools, equipment, and lab space to enhance mechanical engineering effectiveness.
- Work with purchasing teams and vendors to source and qualify production tooling.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and customer issues with creative problem-solving skills.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and industry trends.

Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Science (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00).
- 10+ years of industry experience in mechanical product design; high-volume consumer products experience is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals (beam bending, static analysis, material properties, heat transfer, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes: injection molding, stamping, forming, extrusion, and machining.
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time, sometimes with limited notice.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (Lutron does not offer visa sponsorship for this position).

Pay
$133,500 - $167,500 per year
