About the Role

This Summer 2027 Internship opportunity at IMEG offers a 10-12 week program where you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and consultants, supporting engineering analysis, design coordination, documentation, and periodic job site observations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. This hands-on experience focuses on commercial and institutional markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of mechanical systems projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards
  • Research resources for commercially available equipment
  • Maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Coordinate design and schedule activities with other disciplines, suppliers, and project partners
  • Document design decisions, meetings, client instructions, and project progress
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
  • Prepare and issue addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
  • Work within the project's monetary budget to meet project goals and client expectations

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written form to individuals or groups

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry

Pay

State of Colorado Pay Range: $22-24 per hour. The range represents the base pay IMEG reasonably expects to pay for this position in Greenwood Village, CO. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure/certifications.

Schedule

Full-time in-office, 10-12 week summer program.
