About the role
Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of mechanical engineers from concept to production across a broad array of technologies and volumes. You will own the delivery of mechanical products to market, manage multiple technical projects, and develop high-performing teams while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery of mechanical products to market on time, in budget, and at targeted performance
- Scope, manage, and deliver multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production
- Develop and report performance metrics for the mechanical engineering team to peers and executives
- Recruit and develop great people; continually raise the bar for team performance
- Evaluate and identify improvements to overall design processes
- Maintain a high level of communication with cross-functional teams and partners
- Interface with engineering managers, product management, and program management to drive new product development programs
- Commit to rigorous testing and validation practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of new hardware product development experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Familiarity with industry-standard CAD design tools, industry trends, and design for manufacturability
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a design team
- Ability to balance process-driven development with time-to-market demands
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in robotic development and electromechanical system integration
- Experience with project management of technical projects
- Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis tools
- Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
- Proven track record of developing products for large-volume production
- Experience with rapid prototyping methods
- Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECOs
- Experience managing challenging assignments under accelerated timelines

Pay
Base salary range: $151,000.00 – $204,300.00 USD annually (USA, MA, North Reading). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
