About the role

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of mechanical engineers from concept to production across a broad array of technologies and volumes. You will own the delivery of mechanical products to market, manage multiple technical projects, and develop high-performing teams while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of mechanical products to market on time, in budget, and at targeted performance
  • Scope, manage, and deliver multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production
  • Develop and report performance metrics for the mechanical engineering team to peers and executives
  • Recruit and develop great people; continually raise the bar for team performance
  • Evaluate and identify improvements to overall design processes
  • Maintain a high level of communication with cross-functional teams and partners
  • Interface with engineering managers, product management, and program management to drive new product development programs
  • Commit to rigorous testing and validation practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of new hardware product development experience
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Familiarity with industry-standard CAD design tools, industry trends, and design for manufacturability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a design team
  • Ability to balance process-driven development with time-to-market demands
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in robotic development and electromechanical system integration
  • Experience with project management of technical projects
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis tools
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
  • Proven track record of developing products for large-volume production
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECOs
  • Experience managing challenging assignments under accelerated timelines

Pay

Base salary range: $151,000.00 – $204,300.00 USD annually (USA, MA, North Reading). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
