Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training) About The Role We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI models being developed with the world's leading AI research labs. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics to finite element analysis. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You set your own schedule and work as much or as little as fits your life. Organization: AlignerrType: Hourly ContractLocation: RemoteCommitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced mechanical engineering problems across domains like FEA, heat transfer, thermodynamics, kinematics, and material science to rigorously test AI performanceAuthor Gold-Standard Solutions — Write clear, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluationAudit AI Reasoning — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and adherence to engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.)Improve AI Thinking — Identify logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and provide structured feedback to sharpen model performance Who You Are Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related fieldStrong foundational knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processesAble to communicate complex technical concepts and physical phenomena clearly in writingHighly precise — you catch errors in mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraintsNo prior AI experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflowsFamiliarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYSBackground in academic or professional technical writing Why Join Us Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labsFully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule, from anywhereFreelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaborationGain rare insight into how advanced large language models are built and trainedPotential for ongoing work and contract extension
