Mechanical Engineering Associate (Design)

About the Role

The Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer (Design) participates in designing detailed parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures and mechanical systems. They apply basic engineering principles, structural analysis, and CAD tools to develop designs that meet requirements while minimizing costs. The role involves coordinating with various teams such as Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop layouts, prepare engineering drawings, and coordinate design activities.
• Utilize 3D CAD tools like NX/Unigraphics, ProE, or Catia, working alongside senior design engineers.
• Work on a variety of aircraft systems across different platforms.
• Perform physical work in aircraft hangar environments, including walking to and from the flight line and boarding aircraft.
• Understand basic aircraft systems and communicate effectively through written and verbal skills.
• Maintain MS Office proficiency and willingness to travel.
• Obtain and sustain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or graduate degree with 0-2 years, or 6+ years of experience without a degree.
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX/Unigraphics preferred, ProE, Catia).
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DoD security clearance.
