Responsibilities
- Develop electrical and mechanical designs for switchgear, power distribution, and control systems
- Create accurate 3D CAD models from electrical schematics and mechanical requirements
- Verify bus bar alignment, phase spacing, supports, and clearances within enclosures
- Capture and coordinate EPLAN layouts with 3D CAD models to ensure electrical intent is mechanically feasible
- Identify and resolve dimensional conflicts between bus bars, breakers, CTs, wiring gutters, and enclosure features
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, installation access, serviceability, and maintenance clearance
- Produce production-ready mechanical drawings from 3D models
- Support design revisions based on manufacturing feedback, FAT results, and field conditions
- Coverage of multiple tasks and priorities
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 3 to 6 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably with switchgear or electrical enclosure design
- Skills: Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and assembly creation, experience with switchgear or MCC (NEMA Class 891) systems, solid understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and mechanical fit, experience working with sheet metal and enclosure-based designs, ability to interpret electrical schematics, bus bar routing, and three-phase systems, strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Qualifications
- Experience with EPLAN (or equivalent design software), electrical schematics, and electrical-mechanical coordination
- Experience reconciling multiple drawings and reference documents into a coordinated design
Skills
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and assembly creation
- Experience with switchgear or MCC (NEMA Class 891) systems

- Experience working with sheet metal and enclosure-based designs

Benefits
Approximately 10% of travel is required. Travel to various customer sites and manufacturer locations. Weekend and off-hours work required when needed. Provide on-call services when needed. Out-of-area extended travel arrangements provided by JDC. Expenses related to travel and meals while traveling are covered at cost.
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
