Job Overview
This position is fully onsite at our De Pere, WI location, and remote candidates will not be considered. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to De Pere, WI.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop mechanical concepts and system-level designs based on customer requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, basic simulations, and early-stage testing to validate design direction.
- Prepare and deliver clear handoff packages to Designers, including models, specifications, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and alignment with project goals.
- Oversee early implementation phases and support downstream teams with technical guidance.
- Research new technologies and materials to drive innovation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in both new and existing mechanical systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable building, mechanical, and electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain compliance with engineering standards and contribute to process improvements.
- Create clear, concise technical documentation to support project transitions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, system integration, or project engineering.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, design, and production teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Leadership Responsibilities
This position does not directly supervise other associates.
Travel Requirements
Travel may be required.
Preferred Skills
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and layout development.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, sheet metal design, and structural steel fabrication.
- Experience with FEA tools for preliminary analysis (stress, thermal, etc.).
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and engineering file management systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and project tracking tools.
- Experience in a fabrication or custom manufacturing environment.
- Able to mentor engineers or designers during project transitions.
