Responsibilities
- Designs systems and components that meet the needs and requirements of the project.
- Designs and tests all aspects of mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Produces outline designs.
- Identifies deficiencies in mechanical processes and develops improvements.
- Collaborates with project managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources.
- Works with a design team to create designs, sketches, layouts, and plans.
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
- Buils models and prototypes and tests the design.
- Studies test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
- Methodically conducts experiments, analyzes the data, and interprets results.
- Tests and evaluates theoretical designs.
- Identifies, formulates, and produces effective solutions to emerging problems.
- Evaluates the overall performance, reliability, and safety of a final product.
- Alters and modifies the design to meet requirements and eliminate possible malfunctions.
- Prepares reports and documentation.
- Able to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
- Confirms system capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties.
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or related field.
- Professional Engineer - NY Experience (10 Yr +) in MEP / HVAC and/or Fire Suppression Systems
- MTA experience a plus
- Knowledge in industry Standards and Specifications for different agencies (NYCDEP, NYCDDC, NYCDOT etc).
- OSHA 30 Hours certification is required.
Pay
Salary will depend on experience and credentials.
