Mechanical Engineer (MEP - Forensic Engineering)

About the role

S-E-A is a forensic engineering firm with over 50 years of experience serving as a neutral, third-party subject expert, analyzing technical failures. Our Dallas office is growing and seeking engineers to reverse-engineer and investigate the causes of failures. Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations and perform failure and accident analysis on incidents involving all types of mechanical systems, including natural gas, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, HVAC systems, plumbing, and various mechanical devices and equipment.
• Perform field investigations and forensic engineering & failure/accident analysis on incidents involving machinery, mechanical equipment, and devices such as cranes, presses, pressure vessels, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients.
• Responsible for retention and development of client relations.
• Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
• Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships, and promote services to client groups.
• Support conclusions by providing appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance.
• Regular and predictable presence at work.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-academic work experience.
• P.E. registration through testing is required.
• Knowledge of gas systems and equipment.
• Strong writing skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Public speaking experience is a plus.
