About the role
This position requires designing and modifying mechanical parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, performing stress and thermal analyses, and interfacing with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify complex parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Simulation and analysis of various design alternatives using simulation packages (thermal and stress)
- Establish design modifications to improve the quality of mechanical components of existing products
- Modify existing mechanical components of ultrasound systems to reduce cost
- Review and modify existing detailed drawings to correct quality issues
- Generate bills of material
- Work with suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designs
- Knowledge of plastic and metal tooling to evaluate suppliers' tools
- Perform risks/benefits trade-offs to compare suppliers of mechanical components
- Develop qualification plans and reports
- Interface with overseas manufacturers when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institute
- 4-6 years of experience in mechanical design, working with injection-molded plastics, magnesium and aluminum die-casting, aluminum extrusions, sheet metal, thermal management, and EMI/RFI shielding
- Proficiency with SolidWorks software
- Understanding of strain/stress issues on printed circuit boards with RoHS-compliant components
- Experience in 3D drawings generation, review, and modification to solve quality issues
- Experience in thermal analysis and solutions to solve thermal issues
- Experience in stress analysis and solutions to solve stress issues
- Knowledge of plastic and metal tooling to evaluate suppliers' tools
- Able to perform risks/benefits trade-offs to compare suppliers of mechanical components
- Technical writing skills to develop qualification plans and reports
- ISO, FDA, or other regulated industry training and experience is highly desired
- Persistence, details-oriented, and willing to dig deeper to figure out information needed to carry out QVS projects
- Disciplined in following established procedures/processes
Qualifications
- BS in mechanical engineering from an accredited institute
- 4-6 years of experience in mechanical design
- Proficiency with SolidWorks

- $95,000.00 - $120,000.00/yr. depending on experience
