About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead the design, development, and validation of HVAC systems and components such as evaporator coils and air handlers. As a senior-level individual contributor, you will drive technical solutions, support product strategy, and collaborate across engineering, product management, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective products.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of mechanical systems and components from concept through production
- Own subsystem or product-level engineering execution, including CAD models, drawings, and specifications
- Drive design decisions balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability
- Define and support system testing and validation activities in collaboration with lab teams
- Analyze test data and lead design iterations to meet performance and regulatory requirements
- Support new product introductions (NPI), product updates, and platform standardization efforts
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of field, warranty, and production issues
- Partner with cross-functional teams (product management, manufacturing, sourcing, lab/test, and sales)
- Mentor junior engineers and review technical work for quality and accuracy
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5–8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and airflow systems
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead design and development efforts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC system design experience (coils, air handlers, or similar equipment)
- Familiarity with AHRI, DOE, or other regulatory standards
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, assembly, heat exchangers)
Pay
Starting salary range for this salaried exempt role is $97,000 – $127,000 annually, depending on geography, skills, education, and experience. Eligible for an annual bonus under the Company’s applicable plan; not eligible for overtime.
