About the role
This position involves designing, analyzing, and developing advanced propulsion and aerospace systems for defense, space, and national security applications.
Responsibilities
- Apply fundamental design principles to generate actuator, pressure vessel, and solid rocket motor designs, perform stress and performance analyses, and develop control systems and valves.
- Create intricate 2D/3D CAD models, technical drawings, and assemblies, optimize productivity, and interpret GD&T symbols.
- Conduct CFD simulations, structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses, validate results, and recommend design modifications.
- Evaluate materials such as ceramics, metals, and insulators, contributing to R&D of new alloys and insulator systems.
- Perform complex manufacturing tasks, including additive manufacturing, machining, molding, casting, welding, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Handle technical communications, prepare reports, and presentations tailored to various audiences.
- Understand propellant chemistry, combustion, grain design, and formulate propellants; contribute to system mass reduction and risk management.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of mechanical or aerospace engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field required; master's preferred.
- Proficiency in design, analysis, manufacturing processes, and materials.
- Ability to travel and obtain/maintain U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Qualifications
Preferred: rocket motor testing experience, DoD Top Secret SCI clearance.
Skills
- Strong technical and analytical skills, proficiency in CAD, CFD software, and materials evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
- Ability to solve complex design challenges, optimize systems, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
