About the role
This in-person, on-site role in Escondido, CA emphasizes direct collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams. The position involves mechanical design of cryogenic and high-pressure (up to 20,000 psig) gas transfer systems, including project management tasks such as interfacing with customers, providing schedule updates, and submitting project documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering design of cryogenic and high-pressure systems.
- Meet key performance indicators, including completing all contractual obligations on schedule and within budget.
- Apply engineering design codes, including piping system and pressure vessel design codes.
- Perform component selection, thermodynamic, and pipe flow calculations.
- Support field start-up and commissioning activities, including on-site troubleshooting, system validation, and collaboration with operations and service teams.
- Work in a team environment and utilize system safety and risk assessment techniques (HAZOP, HAZID, What-If) in mechanical design and design reviews.
- Develop P&IDs, piping isometrics, pump skid designs, and trailer loading skid designs.
- Required travel: up to 25%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of experience or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Fluid transfer system knowledge (pump selection, pipe flow calculations, relief valve sizing).
- Ability to read and develop P&IDs.
- Familiarity with pump selection and operations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Cryogenic system design, fabrication, and start-up experience.
- High-pressure system design, fabrication, and start-up experience.
- 5+ years of related experience in cryogenic or high-pressure systems.
- Startup and commissioning experience.
- System control narrative development.
- Centrifugal and positive displacement pump system selection and integration.
Pay
$83,821 – $153,600 per year.
