About the Role

This is a 12-month contract position working onsite in Plano, TX for a high-tech aerospace and defense contractor delivering complex technology solutions for national security and space exploration. The Mechanical Engineer III will design heavy structural modifications for aerospace platforms, contributing to the modernization of a polar mission capability for an LC130H airframe throughout the full product lifecycle from concept to certification.

Responsibilities

• Research advanced mechanical solutions for aerospace missions
• Design heavy structural modifications for LC130H airframe
• Develop CAD models using SolidWorks/Catia
• Simulate structural performance with FEA and CFD
• Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams
• Document design decisions and technical reports
• Support certification and testing activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 5-10 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
• Experience with heavy structural modifications, SolidWorks/Catia, and CAD
• Aerospace experience, specifically on airframe structures
• Familiarity working in multidisciplinary design and development teams
• Strong understanding of overarching structural design

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of applying and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Experience in engineering simulation such as FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis
• Background in aerospace and defense
• Industry knowledge of mechanical design principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, material selection, manufacturing, and production processes

Pay

Up to $59 per hour W2.
