About the Role

Join Knight Aerospace and take the next step in your aerospace engineering career with a full-time, on-site opportunity in San Antonio, TX. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Pay

Base salary: $90,000–$105,000 with a 5% annual target bonus and 409A equity program.

Schedule

Work schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9.5 scheduled hours per day, and Friday, 4 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of multidisciplinary engineers, designers, and drafters, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to team members, ensuring the successful execution of all projects.
  • Perform full lifecycle product development management.
  • Design systems and components that meet customer needs and requirements.
  • Produce outlines, concepts, design, and final design drawings.
  • Identify, formulate, and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
  • Alter and modify designs to meet requirements and to eliminate/reduce manufacturing time.
  • Prepare product drawings and technical documentation in support of customer requirements and deliverables.
  • Drive budget, quality, and schedule deliverables for individual and team tasks.
  • Liaison with planning, production, and quality.
  • Reflect the Company’s values in all communications and activities.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in written form, internally and externally.

Requirements

  • High proficiency operating AutoCAD/DraftSight, SolidWorks, and SolidWorks PDM or equivalent.
  • High proficiency with structural members, 3D mechanical routing, and large assemblies.
  • Takes the initiative to find innovative ways of solving complex design issues.
  • High proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Can take on design problems and create designs/drawings with minimal guidance.
  • Provide training as needed to other engineers/designers.
  • Review designs/drawings/documentation of other engineers/designers.
  • Working knowledge of UL, FAA, and Military standards.
  • Team-oriented and able to take the lead on projects in the group.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Motor control system experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the Aerospace industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of different metals, their properties, and applications for engineering design.
  • Strong familiarity with military standards, parts, and fasteners.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and structural analysis tools.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record in the design, analysis, and implementation of aircraft structural components and systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Rigorous and data-driven in decision-making.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position.
  • International and domestic travel in support of product designs, implementations, or ongoing service.
  • Extensive interaction with production floor activities.
