Mechanical Engineer II-Medical Device Solutions
About the Role
Battelle is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering research and analysis across a variety of mechanical components and systems. In this role, you will apply core engineering principles — including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials science, and structural analysis — to design, analyze, test, and maintain mechanical systems ranging from industrial equipment and transport systems to robotics and energy infrastructure. You will contribute to the development of numerical methods for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and structural mechanics analyses, support research into efficient operation and control of energy and water resources, and play an active role in project execution, business development, and internal research efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement numerical methods for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or structural mechanics analysis using advanced programming techniques.
- Compile and evaluate design and test data, prepare technical specifications, and analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process, or materials specifications.
- Conduct research and evaluation of technologies and methods for efficient operation and control of energy, water, and other resources.
- Interpret, compile, and analyze collected data and author technical reports.
- Contribute to Internal Research & Development (IR&D) studies.
- Support business development efforts led by senior staff.
- Assist with proposal efforts as needed.
- Complete assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal clients.
- May oversee junior staff in extracting and preparing data for analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this position.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $66,500 – $94,800 per year. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
Benefits
- Compressed work schedule allowing for every other Friday off.
- Hybrid work arrangement with 60% in-office and 40% remote work, typically with Monday and Tuesday as in-office days.
- Paid time off to support work-life balance.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with wellness incentives and optional supplemental benefits.
- Coverage for partners, gender-affirming care, health support, and family formation assistance.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan with a 5% employer contribution regardless of employee contribution, plus matching contributions.
- Tuition assistance for pursuing higher education.
