Responsibilities
- Uses prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Proficiency expected in the use of computers for design and CAD applications.
- Organize and maintain project files.
- Input of data into pre-written computer programs.
- Operate computer and run reports or calculations.
- Participate in on-site or field activities.
- Design portions of a project.
- Cookordination with other design professionals.
- Document existing conditions and perform some troubleshooting.
- Research, specify, and recommend available equipment.
- Prepare design drawings and documents.
- Perform technical analysis.
- Edit master specification sections to be project specific.
- Review shop drawings and RFI’s.
- Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into and work with project team to produce construction documents.
- Attend construction progress meetings and produce site observation reports and final punch lists.
- Begin performing quality assurance checks on others’ work as directed by supervisor.
- May be working on several concurrent projects.
- Attend in-house seminars and educational opportunities outside of the office.
- Participate in technical and professional societies.
Qualifications
- Recommended: 4-7 years professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree within an engineering discipline.
- Completion of the EIT exam is strongly preferred; Professional Registration is desired after 4 years of experience.
- Must be able to travel to work-sites as needed or required.
- Understanding of applicable design codes.
- Must be able to communicate with a variety of individuals; must be able to follow verbal and written instructions/directions and respond to inquiries.
- Minimal contact with clients and contractors.
- Works directly for the various Project Designer/Engineers according to assignment.
- Understanding of applicable engineering codes.
