About the role
The Mechanical Engineer II – Product Introduction & Lifecycle plays a crucial role in coordinating new product introduction (NPI) activities and supporting the lifecycle management of assigned products within the Utilities product portfolio at Air Techniques, Inc.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for assigned products from development through commercialization.
- Serve as the primary technical interface between Air Techniques and external development organizations for assigned products.
- Carefully coordinate cross-functional activities involving Engineering, Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Service, and Supply Chain to support successful product launches.
- Support product transfer activities, including technical documentation, product knowledge, manufacturing information, and engineering changes.
- Maintain project schedules, risks, action items, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of NPI objectives.
- Participate in product verification, validation, and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Support lifecycle management activities, including product improvements, engineering changes, cost reduction initiatives, and component obsolescence.
- Aid in the investigation and resolution of technical, manufacturing, quality, and field-related issues.
- Provide technical support and engineering guidance during product introduction and lifecycle activities.
- Serve as backup for designated Product Responsible Engineers (PREs) and support technical product ownership activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare and communicate technical project status updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Management System requirements and procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product development, product support, manufacturing engineering, project engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments.
- Experience supporting product launches, engineering changes, manufacturing transfers, or product lifecycle management activities.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers, OEM partners, or international engineering teams preferred.
- Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical products, systems, and engineering processes.
- Effective project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and international teams.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Working knowledge of CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.
