Responsibilities

• Research and analyze data, design proposals, and specifications to determine the feasibility of design or application.
• Design products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems, and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
• Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.
• Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to optimize machine and equipment utilization.
• Evaluate existing installations and recommend design modifications to improve equipment performance and eliminate malfunctions.
• Develop and/or improve processes for manufacturing new or existing products.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement countermeasures to prevent equipment failure recurrence.
• Develop and implement concepts, including Lean Manufacturing, to reduce manufacturing costs and increase process throughput.
• Create and manage manufacturing documentation, and provide technical oversight to bring high-priority projects to a successful conclusion, including training.
• Lead equipment trials supported by data analysis and recommend appropriate next steps.
• Work proactively to manage the technical direction of assigned manufacturing areas in alignment with the site’s overall technical direction.
• Oversee contractors and personnel related to fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities for assigned projects.
• Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• BSME from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with emphasis on design and fabrication of mechanical and electromechanical equipment and systems.
• Experience with PID loop controllers, PLCs, and other plant control and monitoring equipment.
• Familiarity with standard engineering equations and calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on mentality.
• Ability to adjust to continuously shifting priorities.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Comfortable working on and around equipment and using proper PPE.
• Experience with composite materials and/or material sciences (a plus).
• CAD experience (a plus; CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.).
• SAP experience (a plus).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (a plus).
• Minitab software experience (a plus).
