THE ROLE
- Interprets the architectural design plans and researches appropriate HVAC and plumbing systems to fit the scope of the project.
- Designs the heating, cooling, and plumbing systems to integrate and support the architectural building plan.
- Leverages mechanical engineering principles such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis principles within design work.
- Understands different engineering disciplines within the project and how the mechanical engineering piece will/can impact different design elements.
- Leverages engineering design software to draft plans, drawings, and models.
- Incorporates the appropriate equipment to support the building's HVAC and plumbing needs.
- Creatively finds ways to design engineering projects in challenging spaces.
- Partners with the operations manager to develop new client business and win new project work.
YOUR STRENGTHS
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Minimum of 4+ years’ mechanical engineering experience with HVAC & plumbing design in a range of various building applications
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional licensure required
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure preferred or willing to obtain soon after hire
- Proficiency with REVIT engineering design software
- Project management experience leading tasks or projects
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems
- Familiarity with basic plumbing and electrical systems
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- A valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
